Poetry

My tendency to write poetry is very slight, very seldom, and very erratic. I write about whatever I'm feeling at the time, and I usually don't keep what I write... (I tend to be very self-critical, and I don't think any of my stuff is that good.) Feel free to comment on any of these.

Written for a friend, several years ago. The first poem I wrote that I actually kept, or was willing to show anyone.

Some friends may come and some friends may go.
And sooner or later, I'm sure you know
That all good things must come to an end.
But I hope you'll always be my friend.

Your friendship is more important to me
Than all of the wealth that ever will be.
There's no one on earth that is equal to you
In being loyal, trustworthy and true.

No matter how difficult I may be to bear,
I know that you'll always be there to care.
I'll never stop caring, as long as we live.
My love is the most precious thing I have to give.

If this seems "sappy", I hope you'll believe
That all I have written is what I perceive.

I wrote this less than a year ago. This one, I wrote out by hand at first, and the only handwritten copy of it is in the possession of the person it was written for.

When I look into your eyes, I know what you can't say
Every time you touch me, I know I'll be okay
The moments that I see you smile brighten up my day
And even when you're not around, I know you're here to stay
You show me just how much you care
And when I need you, I know you'll be there
You tell how much I mean to you
It doesn't matter what I do
You'll always bring me back to you
And I know your love is true
Without ever hearing "I love you"

This one should be before the one above it. Not much to say.

Three little words, that mean so much
I feel them every time we touch
But so many times when I need to hear
Those three little words to bring me cheer
You cannot say them, though you tell me it's true
And I wonder how much we will go through
I'll never leave you, though I wish you could say
Those words I need to hear today.

This was written most recently.

Beloved, I truly need you
These feelings in my heart are true
And if you ever said we're through
I do not know what I would do.

I hope that I can make you see
That you are everything I need
You are the whole world to me
So promise me you'll never leave.

If you think everything I write is sappy, don't. I do have several other poems, that I will not be posting here, that are most definitely not "love poems" or anything even similar. However, you will not be seeing them on this website. I have my reasons, and if you don't like it, too bad.
