"Well, if I'm going to be helping you, knowing your name would be nice," she informed him.
"I was hoping I could avoid that..." he sighed again. "People call me... Shadow."
"Why Shadow? That seems a little strange for a cleric."
"That name describes me the best."
"Oh. Well, I suppose that's part of that information you want me to help you find?"
"Yes."
"So when do we leave?" Talon asked.
"After we get some food and some sleep."
"Tomorrow morning, then?"
"Yup."
"Fine. I'll see you at sunrise." Talon walked toward the door.
"You can have the bed. I'll sleep on the floor."
"And why would I want to stay here tonight? I have things to do before I can leave."
"It would be wise to avoid the notice of the guards tonight."
"You hired me for my skills. Are you doubting?"
"I didn't hire you, I asked for a favor."
"Okay, fine. You asked a favor of me. However, I'm the best there is. Do you really think I'm going to get caught?" She continued toward the door.
"Fine, do whatever you want. But if the guards catch you, it's not my problem," Shadow told her.
As she walked out the door, he saw her form shimmer and change into that of the elf that had followed him into the inn earlier that day. A short time later, he looked out the window to see that elf shimmer and change into yet another form, that of a human with shoulder-length black hair.
